Journey To
the Center
of the Earth
3-D Adventure
Cozette Cravens
This movie was obviously remade for 3D and done fairly well. Brendan Fraser seems to play these types of characters quite adeptly. He’s handsome, comedic and an all around good guy. The comedy and seriousness he brings to this film is a good mix.
Professor Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser) along with his nephew Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) and Hannah Asgeirsson (Anita Briem) an Icelandic guide, venture off to Iceland to learn what happened to the Professor’s brother.
They fall and fall until they enter another world at the center of our world. They encounter creatures big and small.
The comedy in this film off sets some of the intense and scary scenes. The 3D effects are good. At one time when the flying carnivorous fish were flying towards me I thought I was going to wet my pants and the woman next to me said the same thing. I think everyone in the audience jumped and yelled in their seats.
The ending of the movie was good; however, the movie did have some intense and scary scenes. Parents might think twice about taking really young kids. A parent took a young child out crying during the movie.
One thing that bothered me was the continuity of the charterers’ back packs. In one scene they had backpacks, then in another they didn’t, and it went on and on, through out the movie this way. I found it annoying. At the end their back packs should have been lost, but suddenly they had them with all sorts of things.
Over all the movie didn’t give me a headache and I enjoyed the comedy.
Disney Goes Digital
Tom Cravens

Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser) is wrapped up in his sedate life, teaching and watching over the last of the seismographs that his lost brother, Max, helped to plant around the world. When his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and a box of his brother's stuff arrives unexpectedly, he has no idea of the journey that awaits both of them.
They are quickly on their way to Iceland, where they meet a mountain guide Hannah (Anita Briem) who helps them locate one of the missing seismographs. The descent to the Center of the Earth is quick and fraught with pit falls. Once there, it is a battle of survival against the creatures they find and the unusual climate at the Center of the Earth.

Disney Digital 3D is awesome, with the digital effects you get close up to flying piranha fish and drooling dinosaurs. This really brings the landscape and creatures to life. It was enjoyable and worth the extra couple of dollars for admission.
Recommended for kids of any age.
Official Journey to the Center of the Earth website, it is fun.
