Street Kings
A Loner Renegade CopRon Smith
This movie starts out with a bang. Tom, played by Keanu Reeves, sells machine guns out of the trunk of his car. Two Korean customers don’t appreciate his attitude, or sense of humor. You have to wonder about his mental health because he is outnumbered two to one and insults the men until they excuse themselves, only after they kick his butt back to Lebanon. (Reeves, whose first name means “cool breeze over the mountains” in Hawaiian, was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1964).
We soon find that Tom is a loner and a cop, a renegade cop who is disliked by almost everyone he works with. On edge and ready to explode he keeps in control with alcohol shooters all day; like a coffee break without the cream and sugar.
Loose Cannon
Tom is a loose cannon, protected by his long-term relationship with the chief played flawlessly by Forrest Whittaker. No wonder he got an academy award (the Last King of Scotland 2006). He’s good.
Toms finds out from the chief that his ex-partner is leaking info about his past shady police work to Internal Affairs. Tom is furious and ready to kick butt as only a man with a legal killing machine on his hip can do.
The Plot Thickens
As the plot thickens and draws us in, we see Tom as a hero, a superhero. Doing things we wish we could do.
No matter what the cost Tom is determined to right the wrongs, which come his way.
He works his way through impossible conflict after conflict and comes out on top time and time again. You want to believe that his luck won’t run out, after all he’s such a loveable guy, what could happen?
Kick-Ass
If you want to see an action Jackson, kick-ass, violent movie with a decent plot, just the right twists and turns, and fine acting. then this is the one to see. I enjoyed it. Didn’t find it so far out there to be unbelievable. Overall I would recommend it. I might even see it again.
