The Cronicles
of Narnia:
Prince Caspian

Disney Magic
Cozy Cravens

Disney has worked its magic again for all of us to see. The film begins during WWII, and then our four kids are transposed back to Narnia.

Returning To Narnia

Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) is escaping from his menacing uncle Miraz (Sergio Castellitto) who wants to kill him and become king. Prince Caspian runs into the woods of Narnia. He blows on the magical horn, that summons the four Narnian Kings and Queens; Susan (Anna Popplewell), Lucy (Gorgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and Peter (William Moseley). They are transported to Narnia, even though they were gone only one year in their time, it has been 1000-1300 years in Narnia time and all has changed. And not for the good. Prince Caspian and the four Narnian Kings and Queens form an alliance to take back his rightful throne, revenge his fathers death, and to give freedom to the Narnians.

Adventure and Some Violence

Even though this is a family movie, it does contain violent scenes and some characters may be considered scary for younger children. The movie was over two hours long, but didn’t seem like it, as it moves right along.

There’s a lot of adventure and fantasy. Some people may find a religious meaning behind the movie, but I feel it’s whatever you want to see. Good triumphs over evil and faith play a big part. The evil White Witch (Tilda Swinton) had a cameo part, but was powerful and seductive.

Costumes, Scenery and Special Effects-Wow

The special effects, the scenery, animation, makeup & hair, and of course my favorite - the costumes are worth going to see the movie. The costumes worn by the humans and the other characters were designed with incredible thought. I wish I could have been part of the creative team.

I enjoyed the movie and would add it to my home movie collection.

He Loves the Disney Effects, Too
Tom Cravens

We find our four Narnian Kings and Queens trying to fit in with the people of war torn World War II London. Peter (William Moseley) especially is having a hard time fitting into school life, of course Lucy (Gorgie Henley) runs to Susan (Anna Popplewell) for help, while Edmund (Skandar Keynes) just leaps in fighting with Peter against the other school boys. Meanwhile, Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) barely escapes from the castle and has no idea of the events he is about to set in motion.

Special Effects

All of the animal and water effects are very natural, talking or running with their live counterparts, and even lifting a bridge. Plus, when the final battle comes, it is amazing to watch the digital creations fight with the human actors.
